About
Daylon Johnson, Media Specialist
Hey! I'm Daylon Johnson, founder of Daylon Johnson Media!
I grew up in Lancaster, Texas where I played football, was in the band, and was a peer leader in high school. I went to college in Mississippi at Alcorn State University where I was a member of a number of organizations on campus including Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Kappa Psi. After graduating with a B.A. in Mass Communications with a concentration in Journalism. .
I got into photography in college when one of my professors, Dr. Jerry Domatob introduced me to the artform. He pushed me to my limits, and I hated it at the time but years later, I really appreciate it. Over time, I grew to love photography even more than journalism. After leaving college and finding work as a Dallas firefighter, left photography until I was able to make a comfortable living to provide for my family. In 2015, I rediscovered my passion for photography and finally had the means to make a business out of it.
I've dedicated a lot of time to my craft and I have a lot of pride and confidence in who I am as a visual storyteller. I've mastered numerous genres of photography, and eventually made the natural transition into videography.
One HUGE thing I learned about being a photographer/videographer is that there's so much more to it than nice pictures and stunning videos. The story is the top priority. I take pride in making sure the story is told fully and correctly. I have great respect for my clients, and I make sure I’m always on time, attentive, and receptive to any concerns they may have.. I've been lucky enough to work with a plethora of different types of people from different backgrounds and I love meeting new people!
More than anything else, I love my clients’ reactions to the work I’ve done for them.
